Quake 3 wallahs who participated in the recently-concluded ESWC USA Qualifier and who wrote Brian “DKT” Flander off as a genuine contender were proved wrong. Dead wrong. It was all too easy to dismiss the ex-international UT champion, who had seemed to be comfortably ensconced in his role as the Manager of CGS world champions Chicago Chimera, and who had all but appeared to have hung up his mouse for good.
But wielding his lethal arsenal of the Everglide DKTBoard, DKT Edition Everglide Titan Monster Mat and Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse once more seemed to have sparked a fierce and enduring revival in the FPS legend, who defeated Daler and Carnage—both hardly walkovers—to face SK Gaming’s Rapha in the Winner Bracket Final. He dominated both maps, ZTN and HUB, in the Final, finishing the match with scores of 18-14 and 30-23 respectively, thus successfully pulling off a massive upset and stunning the Quake community at large.
DKT will represent USA at the ESWC Grand Finals in San Jose, California come August. Be sure to lend your support to him then!
